The LGBT community is often told that there is not the support needed to pass, or even introduce, certain pieces of legislation. Rarely are we told who needs to be persuaded to gain the needed support. When we are it is usually within days of the vote. And, because of technological constraints, this information is not up to date.
The Public Whip Count fundamentally changes the way advocacy on legislation works. It empowers the grassroots, and any citizen, to possess the knowledge necessary to organize and pressure our elected officials until enough votes are secured to introduce or pass legislation. It replaces secrecy with transparency and accountability and allows anyone who cares about LGBT equality to become an activist for full legal equality.
The most revolutionary aspect of our Public Whip Count tool is that it shares power with national organizations, the grassroots, elected officials and party leaders and allows real-time updates.
After login, you will see on the right of each row a button to edit the information.
Ask your Members or Congress or staff their position on this legislation. Indicate that you are conducting a Public Whip Count and that you know to mark their position specifically as: Sponsor, Cosponsor, Yes, Leaning Yes, Undecided, Leaning No, or No. Then indicate in the notes with whom you spoke, and if not voting Yes, the reasons. When you click save, the system will record publicly the date and your name. The contact information provided is the Washington DC office; if you click on it, it will show the website for the Member of Congress–including location of local offices and phone numbers.

GetEqual.org TARGET http://getequal.org/2010/08/enda-summer/ Per Constituent Eugene...As an fyi, I had a face to face conversation with Senator Bayh this morning. He continues to support Hate Crimes and ENDA (as presented last year). He isn’t committed to ENDA with transgender inclusion. I don’t think he’s inextricably opposed but not empowered with the information to make take that step. Regret we didn’t have more time to discuss the issue. Someone from his state should follow up and bring him around. -- Did cosponsor hate crimes bill http://bit.ly/JEXvX
8-10-09 Lore Dickey received letter indicating support, though the letter mentioned sexual orientation but not gender identity; cosponsored a previous bill with sexual orientation; voted for the hate crimes bill
ENDA attempts to pattern itself after other federal
non-discrimination statutes and has been revised to address some
long-standing concerns raised about the legislation. Even with these
revisions, however, the legislation remains overly broad and unclear in
many respects, specifically with regard to its effect on individual,
constitutional, and states' rights.
GetEqual.org TARGET http://getequal.org/2010/08/enda-summer/ TARGET VOTE NEEDED: From Constituent Letter "equal rights should not become special rights, and I appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts with me on this important issue. " snipurl.com/t6o7t
GetEqual.org TARGET http://getequal.org/2010/08/enda-summer/ TARGET VOTE NEEDED: Says he hasn't supported the bill in the past and will wait until he gets committee reports to decide on the current bill.
Sent letter to a constituent saying "I am also fully supportive of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (HR. 3017)", see first comment http://bit.ly/2xT5ka ; Yes Vote on Cloture on DOD Defense Amendment snipurl.com/t6o1y
Elect ONLY those officials who support lgbt equality. NEVER elect those on the religious right. DO NOT vote for McCain and Palin come next election, because I heard that they are on the side of the Christian right.
Also, DO NOT believe Congress when they say that we “are not ready for change!” We ARE ready! The MAJORITY of Americans now support lgbt equality!
I received a letter from Kay Bailey Hutchinson in response to my inquiry. The letter contained the identical information that Lias Poylak received. It’s my experience when a politician wants to wordsmith a bill it means they are against the bill. Also interesting, the letter made no reference to gender identity.
If you are in uncomfortable position and have got no cash to get out from that point, you would need to take the loans. Just because that will help you for sure. I get auto loan every time I need and feel myself OK because of it.
Is it okay to put part of this on my webpage if I post a link back to this webpage?
Blanche Lincoln is either a liar or is retarded, in that she either does not know the definition of “equal rights,” or she does, but she is making up a lie by saying that the LGBTQ community wants to have MORE rights than the rest of America.
Good ideas! I like the way you express your idea and the topic you choose. KEep on your sharing! I appreciate it.
Excellent ideas, however, how do you simplify and implement. That is the big question Tim Fiverr
