We could have allowed same – sex marriage in that state (and all states) long ago, because there is no such thing as “not being ready” for change. For example, European countries have abolished the death penalty despite public opposition to doing so, and nothing bad happened. There were no civil wars or widespread violence. There were no economic recessions. If THEY can go against public opinion in favor of doing what is right, then so can WE! THAT is why change can happen at ANY time – because society will get used to it in good time. FIRST allow equality of marriage (and ENDA, DOMA, etc.), THEN let the public come to accept it. SO FRUSTRATING! Makes NO sense to me. Our bowels are quite fine Congresswoman Lee, but how about doing something for your GLBT constituents NOW by Cosponsoring this legislation.
