Thank you to those of you that were following me on Twitter this weekend as I participated in the National Equality March. Your amazing feedback and re-tweets were very much appreciated! Imagine my surprise when I got home just now and saw that CBS’ John Harwood is reporting that the White House views the marchers and bloggers as part of the “internet left fringe” who are acting like children in pajamas, and that at the end of the day, the White House is not overly concerned about our concerns because 90% of democrats are supportive of the President, therefore the rest of us will fall into line. (http://bit.ly/GADpJ) My sincere hope is that the men and women that were part of this event don’t just fall into line. I hope that they will return home and start putting immense amounts of pressure on their elected officials, I hope they start telling their stories, I hope that they realize that they can and have made a difference. Representative Frank said the only thing the marchers would be putting pressure on was “the grass”. Well Mr. Frank, as was said many times during the rally, you better hold on… cuz the grass isn’t all that is going to get pressure. You have become far too comfortable in your seat of power, and have started turning your back on your own people. Pathetic sir. Young LGBT men and women learned how to run for office this weekend, and are signing up for further training, rest assured, we may not take your job right away, but we will be coming for it eventually. Young LGBT men and women learned how to use social networking, blogging, and the media to their advantage, rest assured we will be paying attention to everything you say and do. Young LGBT men and women learned how to organize on their home campuses and in their communities, rest assured, the youth that helped get this administration elected will be responsible for getting the our representatives that do not represent us well out of office as well. Locally, Congressman Tiahrt… your letter to your constituents “respectfully disagreeing” with their positions on LGBT equality is, “respectfully”, not your job. Your job is to represent the will of your constituents. You are welcome to not agree with them, but you are sworn to represent them. Rest assured, young Democrats are going to be gunning for your seat, and they may not win this go around, but they will soon… you might want to update your resume. A sleeping dragon has been awaken… and this one isn’t taking off his pajama’s… he is raising hell, because if there is one thing he has learned… The squeaky wheel gets the oil. **Squeak**
