BACKGROUND:

Gillibrand’s LGBT Liaison Jon Reinish has been very responsive to the AEB and our outreach.

But, the rumor mill says he’s complaining to other activists about the pressure of our ask which has been nothing but cordial. Of course he’s not talking to the 6 activists who have asked for a meeting w/her on this – which she won’t give – but people completely uninvolved no less!!

Ironically, this all happened after HE INSISTED that our conversations be confidential!? (This is why Confidentiality Agreements in politics are one-way traps and from now on no conversations will be confidential – don’t even ask!)

Of course, meanwhile she’s campaigning and raising money from our community by promising us our Civil Rights!

Yet so far she is NOT willing to Just Say: “YES I’ll file this for you in November.”

What GIVES? Well it’s obvious. We’re still the black sheep of the political family and an election cycle wild card DEMOCRATS are not willing to risk. So WE MUST KEEP PUSHING THEM!
