I would urge you to go to Change.org and check out the LGBT Immigration Rights action page (http://www.change.org/ideas/actions/equal_immigration_rights_for_same_sex_binational_couples)

There are weekly letter writing to 5 members of congress urging them to support UAFA as well as an Inclusive Comprehensive Immigration Reform. There are also letters there to Rep Gutierrez, Rep Lofgren & Sen Schumer to make sure that we are included in ALL CIR bill introduced.

Elect ONLY those officials who support lgbt equality. NEVER elect those on the religious right. DO NOT vote for McCain and Palin come next election, because I heard that they are on the side of the Christian right.

Also, DO NOT believe Congress when they say that we “are not ready for change!” We ARE ready! The MAJORITY of Americans now support lgbt equality!

Thanks for the articulate and succinct description of the Binational legislative situation. The most important thing to note is the fact that the stories of current hardship are of critical importance. Both Senator Giilibrand, and Rep Jackie Speier are urging that we keep the stories reaching the desks of key staffers and hence the attention of the Senators. Since I lead the effort for SHirly Tan’s Private Bill, I have about 100 similar cases. As we speak we are actively providing these stories to the relevant senators and representatives. Those who have imminent hardship must come forward and tell their stories.

Thank you, Mr. Bau for this posting. Congressman Honda and Congressman Nadler are true champions for our families! Having such a long and strong list of supporters from both the immigration and faith communities will go a long way in backing up the call for comprehensive immigration reform to include all families. More co-sponsors for both bills equals better chances. UAFA and RFA could easily be at over 130 co-sponsors each and we need to keep working at getting those numbers up ahead of the introduction of the House and Senate bills.

Let’s continue to keep the pressure on the people who are writing the comprehensive immigration bills: Sen. Chuck Schumer, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, and Rep. Zoe Lofgren to make sure they include LGBT families in any comprehensive immigration bill. In the meantime, to show our strength, we need more co-sponsors for RFA and UAFA.
